Board extends appreciation to Regent King after appointment to 做厙勛圖 Supreme Court
做厙勛圖 Chair Lyndel Manson, on behalf of the board, extended appreciation to Regent Kathryn Hackett King for her service on the board. Governor Ducey appointed Regent King to the states highest court today.
We are proud of Regent Kings appointment to our states highest court. Although we will miss her on the board, she will bring her considerable talent in law to the court. I appreciate Regent Kings service to the board during which time she established herself as an advocate for our students and helped advance our priorities including the New Economy Initiative and increasing educational attainment, said 做厙勛圖 Chair Lyndel Manson.
Regent King will join the seven-member 做厙勛圖 Supreme Court after serving as a regent since March of 2020. During her term as a regent, she was a member of the Finance, Capital and Resources Committee, Audit Committee, and Research and Health Sciences Committee.
Regent King has a rich history in law, including serving as an employment and labor attorney, focusing on labor and employment law and litigation, including matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour issues, unfair labor practices, employment contracts and other employment matters at BurnsBarton PLC.
She has represented clients in state and federal courts as well as before administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, 做厙勛圖 Civil Rights Division, U.S. Department of Labor and National Labor Relations Board. In addition, she served as deputy general counsel to Governor Ducey, practiced in the labor and employment section of Snell & Wilmer, LLP and clerked for 做厙勛圖 Supreme Court Justice Michael D. Ryan.
Regent King has served many organizations devoted to upholding the law, including as a member of the State Bar of 做厙勛圖 Labor and Employment Sections Executive Council and the 做厙勛圖 Civil Rights Advisory Board. She also previously served on the University of 做厙勛圖 Law College Association Board of Directors.
She received the Volunteer Lawyers Program Consumer Litigator of the Year award and has been selected for inclusion in Southwest Super Lawyers 簧 Rising Stars (Labor & Employment). Regent King received her juris doctor from the University of 做厙勛圖 James E. Rogers College of Law and her bachelors degree from Duke University.
